Antifoaming agents market expected CAGR is 4% during (2020-2030)

Anti-foaming agents/Defoamers are a chemical additive that prevents/reduces formation of foam in various industrial processes. Defoamers are generally insoluble in a foaming medium and posses surface active properties. These agents’ posses key characteristics such as low viscosity and spread rapidly on the foamy surface. Defoamers have affinity to air-liquid surface, where they threaten the formation of foam surfaces. This ruptures air bubbles and breakdown surface of foam, thus preventing formation of foam. Water-based defoamers, oil –based defoamers, and silicone-based defoamers are commonly used across the various end users. Apart from these EO/PO-based, alkyl poly acryl ate, non silicone defoamers, ester-based defoamers are some of the other defoamers available in the market

Anti-foaming agents is poised to grow at a CAGR of 4% during the forecast period of (2020-2030)

The global anti-foaming agents market is expected to witness a CAGR of around 4% from 2020-2030 as per new report published by Decision Foresight.

According to the report, growing demand of anti-foaming agents for their use in waste water treatment plant, paints & coatings, pulp and paper industry, increasing environmental concerns regarding release of effluents through different industries along with control on VOC emissions, presence of large number players leading to great availability of anti-foaming agents are expected to drive the market growth during the forecast period. On the other hand, the demand for water-based anti-foaming agents is expected to provide lucrative growth opportunities for the market.

In 2019, silicone-based anti-foaming agents are expected to account for largest share of the global anti-foaming agents market. The wide spread acceptance in various industries due to its enhanced properties such as low surface tension, thermal stability, chemical inertness, and complete solubility in water helps it to garner the larger share.

Paper & Pulp industry is anticipated to acquire the largest share of the application market in 2019. Also, this segment is expected to continue to dominate market during the forecast period of 2019-2020. Anti-foaming agents are extensively utilized during production of paper & pulp. These agents aids in reducing foam quantity during paper & pulp processing. Growing demand for the paper based product, its usage in flexible packaging industry due to significant growth of e-commerce sector will further boost the market growth.

Moreover, increasing concerns over the industrial wastewater across the globe is expected to enhance the market demand in the coming years. Stringent government regulations related to the disposal of industrial waste water has led to rise in consumption of treatment chemicals in the waste water industry. The causes of foams in waste water treatment plant are varied. In secondary treatment, foam is usually is a result of biological activity. It can be due to mechanical activity, chemical contamination, surfactants in the influent or some polymer treatments. Also, foaming in the secondary treatment can lead to safety and health issues. Thus, to curb this issue, there rise in demand for anti-foaming agents to control the foaming in waste water treatment plant; thereby fuelling the market growth. EROL AMB – Series (PMC Group, Inc.) and FoamTrol Anti-foam Agents (SUEZ) are some of the commercially available anti-foaming agents for treatment of waste water treatment plant.

Market players operating in the global anti- foaming agents market are focusing on organic expansion by introducing new products. Some of the recent launches of anti-foaming agents/defoamers include Foamaster WO 2360 (October 2019, BASF), Airase 5355 and Airase 5655 (March 2017, Evonik), Dow Corning 2405 resin, Dow Corning 8590  additive, and Dow Corning 3055 resin (February 2016, Dow Corning),  and Surfanol 170l, (February 2016, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc,)

The global anti-foaming agents market is marked by presence of the leading players such as Dow Corning Corporation, Evonik Industries, BASF SE, Air Products and Chemicals Inc., Kimera, Ashland Elements plc, and Shin-Estu Chemical Company Ltd Apart from these other players operating in the global anti-foaming agents market include Wacker Chemie AG, Blue Star Silicone International, Elkem Silicones, and Clariant AG
